1 Ford's Theatre
English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Ford's Theatre

3 Booth, John Wilkes
The South is avenged!"]. English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Booth, John Wilkes

7 Washington, D.C.
Вашингтона [ George Washington University], Университет Хауарда [ Howard University], Католический университет Америки [ Catholic University of America], Американский университет [ American University]. English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Washington, D.C.

Нью-Йорк — центр туризма, американцы считают своим долгом побывать в этом современном Вавилоне, поглазеть на небоскрёбы, походить по фешенебельным и не столь уж фешенебельным магазинам, попробовать экзотические блюда в многочисленных ресторанах и кафе этнических районов — этих островков разных культур [culture islands], и затем, вернувшись домой, ещё раз повторить: «Нью-Йорк интересно посмотреть, но жить там не хочется» [‘New York is a great place to visit but you wouldn’t want to live there’].
